Delicious garlic butter honey BBQ chicken tacos with sweet, smoky flavor. Easy 25-minute recipe perfect for quick weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp chili powder (optional for heat)

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp honey

  • 1/3 cup BBQ sauce (choose your favorite)

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 8 small flour or corn tortillas

  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce

  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Monterey Jack)

  • 1/4 cup diced red onion

  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro

  • Lime wedges for garnish


Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, toss chicken with olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and chili powder until evenly coated.

  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken for about 5-6 minutes per side, until fully cooked through. Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes, then slice or shred.

  • In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  • Stir in honey, BBQ sauce, and lemon juice. Let the sauce simmer for 2 minutes until it thickens slightly.

  • Add the sliced or shredded chicken back to the skillet and toss in the sauce to coat thoroughly.

  • Warm the tortillas in a separate pan or microwave. Assemble tacos by layering lettuce, saucy chicken, shredded cheese, red onion, and cilantro.

 

  • Serve with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the tacos.
