Ingredients

Scale

For the Wings:

  • 2 pounds chicken wings, separated into flats and drumettes

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

For the Sweet and Spicy Glaze:

  • ¼ cup honey

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • ¼ cup hot sauce (adjust to preferred heat level)

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)

Optional Garnishes:

  • Sliced green onions

  • Sesame seeds

  • Chopped fresh cilantro

Instructions

  • Prep the Chicken Wings:
Rinse the wings under cold water and pat them completely dry using paper towels. This helps them crisp up during cooking.
In a large bowl, toss the wings with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika until fully coated.

  • Cook the Wings:
    Baking Method:

    • Preheat oven to 400°F.

    • Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.

    • Arrange the wings on the rack in a single layer.

    • Bake for 40–45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and golden brown.

    Frying Method:

    • Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 375°F.

    • Fry wings in small batches for 8–10 minutes until golden and fully cooked.

    • Transfer to paper towels to drain excess oil.

  • Make the Glaze:
In a small saucepan, stir together the honey, brown sugar, hot sauce, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and cayenne pepper.
Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it begins to bubble and thicken slightly (about 3–5 minutes). Remove from heat.

  • Toss and Serve:
Place the cooked wings in a large bowl. Pour the warm glaze over them and toss until evenly coated.
Garnish with sliced green onions, sesame seeds, or chopped cilantro if desired.
