Ingredients

6 slices bacon, chopped

½ cup diced white onion (about half a medium onion)

2 cans (16 ounces each) green beans, drained and rinsed

½ cup low-sodium chicken broth

1 tablespoon minced garlic (about 3 large cloves)

1 tablespoon butter

1 teaspoon granulated sugar

½ teaspoon salt, or to taste

¼ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper, or to taste
Instructions

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chopped bacon and cook for 5–6 minutes, stirring frequently, until just crispy.

Add the diced onion and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onion softens.

Stir in the green beans, chicken broth, minced garlic, butter, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.

Reduce the heat to low. Cover the skillet with a lid and let the green beans simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they’re tender.
