Enjoy a rich, smoky side dish just like the one from Texas Roadhouse. Simple to make with pantry staples!
6 slices bacon, chopped
½ cup diced white onion (about ½ a medium onion)
2 (16-ounce) cans green beans, drained and rinsed
½ cup low-sodium chicken broth
1 tablespoon minced garlic (about 3 cloves)
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
1 teaspoon granulated sugar (see Notes)
½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
¼ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper (adjust to taste)
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chopped bacon and cook, stirring frequently, for 5–6 minutes until just crispy.
Stir in diced onion and sauté for about 5 minutes until soft and translucent.
Add green beans, chicken broth, minced garlic, butter, red wine vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
Reduce heat to low, cover with a lid, and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beans are tender and flavorful.
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve warm.
For the most authentic flavor, use canned green beans like Texas Roadhouse does. Fresh or frozen green beans work too but may change the taste and texture.
If using regular chicken broth, reduce or omit the added salt.
Make it Keto: Swap sugar for Granular Swerve or skip it altogether.
