Baked Brie with Figs and Honey

  • 8 oz wheel of Brie cheese
  • 6 fresh figs, quartered
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
  • Pinch of cracked black pepper
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (optional)
  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • 1 tbsp balsamic glaze (optional)
  • 1 tsp orange zest (optional)
  • Crackers or sliced baguette, for serving
  • Fresh fruit slices, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Place the Brie wheel on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. If desired, score the top of the Brie in a crosshatch pattern.
  5. Arrange the quartered figs around the cheese wheel.
  6. Drizzle honey over both the Brie and figs.
  7. Sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves and cracked black pepper.
  8. Add any optional ingredients like chopped nuts or orange zest if using.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the cheese is soft and figs are caramelized.
  10. Allow to rest for 1-2 minutes before transferring to a serving platter.
  11. Serve immediately with crackers, sliced baguette, and fresh fruit.

Notes

  • For best results, allow the Brie to come to room temperature for 15-20 minutes before baking.
  • The Brie rind is completely edible and helps maintain the cheese’s shape during baking.
  • If fresh figs aren’t available, substitute with 3-4 tablespoons of fig jam.
