spicy mozzarella snack

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 baguette, sliced into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine melted butter, olive oil, minced garlic, and chili flakes. Stir well to combine.
  3. Arrange bread slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Use a pastry brush to generously coat each bread slice with the chili-garlic butter mixture.
  5. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over each slice, making sure to reach the edges.
  6. Bake for 5 minutes until cheese begins to melt.
  7. Increase oven temperature to 400°F (205°C) and bake an additional 5-7 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden, with crispy edges.
  8. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with fresh parsley if using.
  9. Allow to cool for 1-2 minutes before serving hot.

Notes

  • For a less spicy version, reduce chili flakes to ¼ teaspoon or omit entirely.
  • Fresh mozzarella can be substituted but may create a softer texture – pat it dry before using.
  • Leftover bread can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days and reheated in a 350°F oven for 5 minutes.
