Garlic Naan Recipe

Soft, fluffy homemade garlic naan made without yeast using simple ingredients. Perfect alongside any curry or as a delicious bread for dipping.

Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose OR wheat flour, plus more as bench flour
  • 1 ¼ cup non-fat Greek yogurt
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Extra virgin olive oil, for greasing pan
  • Garlic Oil
  • 4 large garlic cloves, very finely minced
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Small handful fresh Italian parsley or cilantro, finely chopped
  • Salt, to taste

 

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, salt, and baking powder in a stand mixer bowl with whisk attachment.
  2. Add Greek yogurt and switch to dough hook. Mix on medium speed for 1-4 minutes until dough ball forms, then mix 1 minute more.
  3. Remove dough, lightly flour work surface and hands, then knead by hand for 3 minutes.
  4. Rest dough for 10 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, mix minced garlic, olive oil, herbs, and salt for the garlic oil.
  6. Divide dough into 6 portions using a ⅓ cup measure. Roll each into thin, oblong shapes.
  7. Preheat skillet over medium-high heat for 5 minutes until very hot.
  8. Add ¼ teaspoon oil to pan, then cook first naan for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown with bubbles.
  9. Repeat with remaining dough, adding ¼ teaspoon oil before each piece.
  10. Keep warm in 200°F oven until serving, then brush with garlic oil before serving.
