A beautiful layered cookie mix in a mason jar that makes the perfect DIY gift for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1⅔ cups all purpose flour, spooned into the measuring cup and leveled
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1⅓ cups M&M’s and/or chocolate chips
  • ⅓ cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1-quart Mason jar

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl.
  2. Pour the flour mixture into the bottom of a 1-quart mason jar using a funnel or rolled paper plate.
  3. Layer the remaining ingredients in this order: granulated sugar, 1 cup of M&M’s/chocolate chips, brown sugar, and remaining ⅓ cup M&M’s/chocolate chips.
  4. Gently tap the jar between layers to create flat surfaces.
  5. Seal with the lid and decorate with ribbon and/or fabric.
  6. Attach a recipe card with instructions for the recipient.

Notes

Include this recipe card with the jar: In a large bowl, whisk ½ cup of melted and cooled unsalted butter, 1 large egg, 1 large egg yolk, and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract. Add the jar contents and gently stir until combined. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Scoop 2-tablespoon portions onto parchment-lined baking sheets and bake at 350°F for 9-11 minutes. For prettier cookies, shape edges with the back of a spoon when fresh from the oven. Nutrition facts are estimates and may vary based on ingredients used, portion sizes, and preparation methods.
