Ingredients

Scale

Chicken:

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil

Teriyaki Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Mix soy sauce, water, sugar, garlic powder, and white pepper in a bowl. Add chicken thighs and coat thoroughly. Marinate refrigerated for 30-60 minutes.
  2. Remove chicken from marinade and pat dry with paper towels.
  3. For grilled version: Heat oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-low heat. Place chicken in a single layer and press flat with a second pan. Cook 3-4 minutes per side until browned and internal temperature reaches 170°F.
  4. For original version: Heat oil in a wok over high heat. Quickly stir-fry chicken pieces until nearly cooked.
  5. Meanwhile, prepare sauce by whisking all sauce ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to simmer over medium heat and cook until thickened, about 1-2 minutes.
  6. For grilled version: Slice chicken and drizzle with sauce. For original: Add sauce to wok with chicken and finish cooking together.
  7. Serve hot with rice and your favorite Panda Express sides.
