  • 1/2 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 8 chicken or turkey sausages
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups hot beef broth or hot vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire-style sauce
  • Chopped parsley, optional
  • Mashed potatoes, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium-low heat. Cook sausages for about 15 minutes, turning regularly until fully cooked. Transfer to a bowl.
  2. In the same pan, melt butter. Add onion and mushrooms, cooking for 5–6 minutes until softened and lightly browned.
  3. Add crushed garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Sprinkle flour over vegetables, mix well, and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
  5. Slowly pour in hot broth while stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  6. Add Worcestershire sauce and simmer for 3–4 minutes until thickened.
  7. Return sausages to pan, coat in gravy, and heat through for 2–3 minutes.
  8. Garnish with parsley if desired and serve over mashed potatoes.
