Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups corn cereal squares, such as Chex
  • 2 1/2 cups rice cereal squares, such as Chex
  • 2 cups mini Cheddar-flavored crackers, such as Cheez-It
  • 2 cups mini pretzels or pretzel snaps
  • 2 cups seasoned cubed stuffing mix
  • 1 1/2 cups pecans, toasted
  • 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, cut into large pieces
  • 3 sprigs fresh thyme plus 2 tablespoons thyme leaves, chopped
  • 2 sprigs fresh sage
  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt, such as Lawry’s
  • 1 cup dried cranberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine corn cereal, rice cereal, crackers, pretzels, stuffing mix, and pecans in a large bowl.
  3. Melt butter in a medium skillet over medium heat, then add thyme sprigs, sage, and rosemary.
  4. Continue cooking, swirling occasionally, until butter turns nutty brown (5-7 minutes).
  5. Strain butter through a sieve into a bowl, pressing herbs to extract all butter. Cool 15 minutes.
  6. Whisk maple syrup, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, and seasoned salt into the butter.
  7. Pour butter mixture over cereal mixture and toss until evenly coated.
  8. Spread mixture on prepared baking sheet and bake 10 minutes, then stir.
  9. Bake another 10 minutes, then add chopped thyme leaves and toss to combine.
  10. Continue baking until dry to the touch, about 10 more minutes.
  11. Cool completely before stirring in dried cranberries.

Notes
