  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 stalks celery, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon capers, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons red onion, finely minced (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped (optional)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Drain the tuna thoroughly and transfer to a mixing bowl.
  2. Flake tuna with a fork until evenly broken up.
  3. Add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice; stir until smooth and well combined.
  4. Fold in chopped celery and capers until evenly distributed.
  5. If using optional ingredients, gently fold them in now.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste, starting with 1/4 teaspoon of each.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  8. Give a final stir before serving with crackers, vegetables, or bread.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute half the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt.

Oil-packed tuna creates a richer dip than water-packed, but either works well.

This dip keeps in the refrigerator for up to 3 days in an airtight container.
