DIY Brown Sugar

Simple homemade brown sugar using just granulated sugar and molasses – fresher and more flavorful than store-bought versions.

 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon unsulphured molasses (increase to 2 Tablespoons of molasses if you would like to make dark brown sugar)

Instructions

  1. Place granulated sugar in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add molasses to the sugar.
  3. Mix thoroughly with a spatula, pressing against the bowl sides to incorporate completely.
  4. Continue mixing until no lumps remain and brown sugar has a uniform color.
  5. Store in an airtight container.
