Homemade Pumpkin Puree

Fresh, flavorful homemade pumpkin puree that’s perfect for pies, soups, and countless other recipes.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium sugar/pie pumpkin (46 pounds)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut pumpkin in half from top to bottom on opposite sides, then pull halves apart at the stem.
  3. Scoop out seeds and stringy fibers. Lightly season inside with salt if desired.
  4. Place cut-side down on baking sheet and bake for 45-60 minutes until flesh is easily pierced and pulls away from skin.
  5. Cool until safe to handle, then scoop flesh into food processor.
  6. Process until completely smooth, 3-5 minutes.

Notes

Store in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to one week or freeze for up to 6 months.
